Welcome

Welcome to Swift Current Minor Baseball for 2014! Whether your son or daughter has played baseball in the past or if it is their first year, we hope that he/she will find it enjoyable.

Swift Current Minor Baseball AGM
SCMB will be holding our annual AGM Nov. 24th 7pm at Robertson Implements conference room.

MINOR BALL BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED
Dear SCMB parents/guardians:

Hello everyone. SCMB had another tremendous season! This season marked our most ever registrations with just over 250 players. Our numbers continue to grow, year after year. The Rally Cap and Mosquito divisions continue to be strong as ever with over 70 in Rally Cap, and over 100 players in Mosquito. For the first time in many years, SCMB was able to field two house teams in the Peewee and one house team in the Bantam division. Our house baseball is the backbone of our organization, and without the house baseball, SCMB would not be able to field some of the best “AA” baseball teams, in Saskatchewan, and Western Canada.

Some of our provincial teams had great success on the field and all represented our city well. The Mosquito “AA” Indians won Provincial championship. This team was coached by Derek Murdoch, Rick Hildebrand and Louis Cherpin. This marked the fourth provincial championship for this team in the last four years. The Mosquito “A” Indians lost in the provincial championships, in extra innings.

Our Pee Wee, Bantam, and Midget teams also had excellent seasons. The Peewee “AA” team lost in the finals of the Provincial championships. The Bantam “AA” team and the Midget “AA” teams were also very competitive in the quest for a provincial championship. The Midgets came close losing in extra innings at their Provincial championship.

This year our association and our “AA” teams played host to the Western Canada baseball championships. Our local teams represented our association and our community well on and off of the field. Our local teams were competitive, and our Midget “AA” team won silver in a very exciting and well played final.

As always, the success of our teams and the success of our association is dependent on quality volunteers. We have many positions that will need to be filled for the 2015 season. A number of our present Board members have been serving our association long after their children have graduated from our association.

We thank the following board member for her dedicated service and passion for baseball, Rhonda Siemens. And recently one of our longest serving and graduating members, Sharon Hogg, was recognized for her life time service and dedication to baseball in Swift Current and in our province at the AGM for Saskatchewan Baseball.

There is a need for new members with new ideas to join our association in order to keep the minor baseball system in Swift Current, growing and moving forward in a positive way. Without parents stepping forward and joining the SCMB board, we will not be able to continue to offer such a great product to the youth of our community.

The positions that need to be filled are: President, Treasurer, Concession Coordinator, Equipment Coordinator, as well as division heads for Rally Cap, Mosquito, and Bantam divisions.

We are hosting our annual AGM on November 24th 7:00PM at Robertson Implements conference room, 2464 South Service RD. West, Swift Current.

If you are interested in serving on the board, or have any other concerns, please contact any board member and they will be happy to speak with you. The minor ball contacts can be found at www.swiftcurrentminorbaseball.ca

Thank-you all for your interest in our players and in our association. We look forward to seeing you at our AGM.
